About Us

RumiCount is a small locally run business whose main ambition is to make parasite testing, for livestock and pets, the new norm. To make it easy, cost effective and available to all. Studies are highlighting the resistance issues to various anthelmintics, which is already causing major issues for the health and welfare of our animals. There are no new drugs in the pipeline, so conserving what we have is beneficial. With a faecal test we can work with our vets and SQPs and plan actions based on facts.
As part of a family farm ourselves, we have been testing routinely since 2020 and have had our eyes opened as to how much time, effort and money we have wasted over the years dosing at the wrong time and when it wasn’t needed and we have led ourselves to resistance problems which, although we are tackling, is going to be a long drawn out process. By testing, we are targeting treatment when we know it needs done and using products we know are going to work.

What we do

Here at RumiCount, we provide a diagnostic service for most animals. Faecal testing can pick up a wide variety of worms and adult fluke which may be causing welfare and economic problems.

Why are we much cheaper?

We at RumiCount are fully trained and qualified at diagnostic testing. We are not qualified to give out advice regarding what treatment might be needed. But your vet is, your local SQP is. You will get free advice from them. We will provide you with a detailed report at a very competitive rate. You can use this report to seek qualified advice and prepare an action plan.

How long will it take?

We aim to provide test results within 24 hours of receipt of samples. As soon as the test is complete, we will text you with a summarised result. A detailed report will follow soon by email.

Postal kits

Postal kits can be posted out to you. These kits contain all you need to collect samples along with a prepaid envelope ready to pop straight in the post box back to us. At all times we endeavour to keep costs as low as possible. A kit can contain up to a maximum of 4 samples. Each kit will cost test charges plus £6 which covers the postage.

Drumburn Livestock

I decided do do some blood tests of our cross ewes due to lamb soon just to see if our nutrition was right or to pick up anything lacking. The general results were fine but showed low albumin which we were told could reflect poor long-term protein status or an underlying disease problem such as liver fluke.

So i went to RumiCount for our FEC test. Top service, results within 24hours and kept informed at every stage.
Highly recomend Rumicount, local, decent price and quick turnaround👌🏼
